Flavour of the Month - Blood Orange

One of the greatest citrus fruits with a dazzling sweet flesh and great nutritional value.

It's glorious eaten as it is, also in desserts and crumbles. Unbeatable seasonal Tarocco from Sicily or Sanguinello from Spain. Great in drinks too, says Giulio Carnevale, Head Sommelier and F&B manager of Brooklands Hotel. Rich in antioxidant, high in vitamin C and fibre which makes you feel full. In season from December depending on the weather. I always buy some when spot any at the local market. Great subject of interest for food photographers around festive season, due distinctive dark flesh and warm colours.
